India-Dubai Flights Cancelled as of Thousands Hit
Indian Carrier services have cancelled their flights, from the mega city or re-routed them to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Still Dubai airport is allowing for big jets for some time to clear the backlog of passengers. Emirates said flights disruption will be till Saturday morning.
Aviation minister AG Raju Tweeted “Dubai only wide body aircraft will be allowed till 7AM Friday, All routing through Sharjah, Abu Dhabi & Indigo, Spicejet operate are cancelled (From 4th August.)
As Dubai is the busiest route, Although for International Travel to and from India. About 30,000 people fly between India and Dubai daily. By this closure of Dubai Airport has disrupted the travel plans of thousands passengers, who are now flying to nearby cities and driving from there to go to Dubai. Jet Airways Tweeted “Thursday’s 9W 545 from Dubai Delhi has been rescheduled to operate as Sharjah- Delhi, 9W 546 from Delhi –Dubai has been also rescheduled to operate as Delhi –Sharjah.
On other hand Spice Jet said “As Emirates aircraft crash landing at Dubai airport Wednesday and according to the instructions from Dubai Airport Authorities all our flights has been cancelled, as they said we are trying our best towards passenger’s convenience. Our flights to Dubai have been diverted to AL Maktoum International Airport, Ras AL khaimah and Sharjah. We are working on alternate mode of travel from these airports for the passengers, so they can reach Dubai City.
Emirates cancelled about 27 flights (on Wednesday) and there were delays and rescheduled flights across the network. About 23 flights have been diverted to alternative airports. In total, 23,000 emirates passengers were impacted by the disruption. Passengers on or before Wednesday can rebook or cancel their bookings at no charge.
According to the data of Directorate General of Civil Aviation India saw highest international traffic between India and UAE with 1.6 crore flyers between two regions in 2015.
